Te Puna Hauora / A source of wellbeing
Te Puna Hauora is the Te Piki Oranga framework for how we provide services in Te Tauihu o Te Waka-a-Māui.
Our services offer support with mental health, addiction, prevention and wellness.
Te Puna Hauora is based more on a traditional Māori community model than a Western clinical model. It recognises that a health concern requires a whānau-centric approach, where a Māori individual may need the support and involvement of their whānau and whānau whanui.
Te Piki Oranga refers to people accessing our services as whānau because this infers a close and respectful relationship. By placing whānau at the centre of our care, we can support Māori and their whānau to become more self-managing and improve their health literacy through education.
