Koroua me Kuia

Early intervention services for older people

The kaupapa of this service is to provide opportunities for koroua and kuia to access healthcare services.

We also help to ensure that older people are supported in their community.

Our services include:

Day programme

  • activities that are oriented to a person’s interests and abilities

  • activities that contribute to falls prevention

  • community-based activities, such as shopping trips, community events and intergenerational activities

Navigation services

Our Pūkenga Manaaki (whānau navigators) are useful people to talk to at in any point of your healthcare journey with Te Piki Oranga.

They help you access the health system, and will often connect you to other healthcare professionals (in hospital services, for example). Our navigators help improve your health outcomes by providing:

  • help to access the most appropriate medical and healthcare facilities

  • a smooth (as possible) transition between services

  • transport when you need it

  • culturally-appropriate support and advocacy

  • relevant health education

  • links and consultation between whānau, community and service agencies

Noho Pākari programme
